Meet our 2025 Board of Directors

 

President- AMBER YOUNG 

Amber Young, I am the current president of the club and former VP. I am an Addictions Counsellor, working in this field for 16 years. My passion with horses has greatly benefited my ability to work with people as my horses always test my patients and help me to commit to working through whatever situation I am in. This club has always provided me and my family a sence of belonging, the goals that are accomplished that dreams that come true are amazing and I am happy and proud to be part of it, as a mom, as a member, as the jerky seller and as The president. The NPBHA Board can't wait for the 2025 season. Welcome everyone.
Vice President- LACEY BENSON

Lacey Benson is the mother of 2 beautiful children, who not that long ago decided to join the world of horses. She makes sure these kids learn every step of the way from ridding, learning skills, advancing and hard work. she will be the one making sure everything is organized as it should be and usually always has answer. She prides herself on volunteering her time to this club and has embraced the world of horses for her children. She has relized that this crazy horse world is at times a lot to deal with but full of love and fun oppertunities of friends and family enjoying time together.

Secretary - JEN HUDSON

My name is Jennifer Hudson and I wanted to introduce myself as your newly appointed secretary for the NPBHA. I am pretty sure my love of horses started in the womb. Thankfully my parents allowed me lessons and a horse at a pretty young age! I have a son named Emmett and many “adoptive” barn kids as I am the proud owner of Flag Point Stables. I am extremely honored to be even more involved with the club that I have come to love so much! I first heard about NPBHA a few years ago when Heidi Whalen said, “You’ve got to come with me for a weekend! This club is the most friendly and supportive club out there!” Most of my showing career up until that point was in English and let me tell you, no one was supportive to strangers at those shows! At the time Scout was a new horse to me and we were mostly trotting around and didn’t feel ready to show. Thankfully, I decided to take a chance and boy can I tell you that this club gave me the support and confidence to have fun and be happy with the skill level we were at! I cannot wait for the upcoming 2025 racing season and look forward racing my boy Scout and seeing you all!

Treasurer- HEIDI WHALEN

My name is Heidi Whalen, I will be acting treasurer for the year of 2025! I am the mother of 4 amazing kids and Meema to 3 amazing grandchildren, with one more on the way! I can always been found throughout the show grounds with her shadow (Doc). Who has also become a popular attraction on show weekends! I have been a member of this club since 2018, when my niece convinced my to run barrels on a standardbred named Jojo. Horses have always been my passion, but this club is my family. The Family orientation of this club excels at making everyone feel welcome, no matter the age, the experience, the knowledge. Everyone welcomes everyone with open arms. I have always tried to stand by that value, from welcoming people in the barn in the middle of the night, to encouraging everyone to be themselves and have fun! I often can be seen “dancing” on a my horse "Ally" to calm my nerves! I am beyond excited for this new season, to see past members and welcome newcomers to this wonderful extended family, that we call the NPBHA!

 

Director at Large- Daniel Goguen

I'm Daniel Goguen, a friendly and curious barn dad from Summerside, Prince Edward Island, Canada. I enjoy exploring new ideas and learning about the world of horsemanship. I'm excited to share my thoughts and experiences with others and learn from their perspectives as well."

Director at Large- GILLAIN MACLEAN

Gillian MacLean hails from Cornwall PEI where she lives with her husband and two sons. Gillian’s day job is a Registered Nurse however, her passion is for horses. Gillian is new to the NPBHA club and is thrilled to be sitting on the board of directors for the upcoming season. Gillian loves the fun, exciting and supportive atmosphere that NPBHA strives to provide and is looking forward to the 2025 season!

Director at Large- TYLER PARKS

Hello! I’m Avery’s dad, Tyler Parks! A few years ago, I had no idea how much I would come to love horses and mucking stalls. It all started with Avery asking to go see a horse, and now, here I am, completely hooked. You’ll often find me sporting cowboy boots and a hat, fully embracing this unexpected ranch life. I’m excited to be part of this board, and I look forward to working alongside all of you. Can't wait for the next show season so I can cheer everyone on.
